Taiwan-based Prime View International (PVI) has reported first-quarter revenues of NT$1.8 billion (US$53.37 million), with operating loss of NT$16.06 million and loss of NT$400 million from its subsidiary Hydis. The company had losses before tax of NT$787.8 million in the first quarter of 2009.
PVI expects to break even in the second quarter, and swing back to profits in the third quarter when Hydis breaks even, PVI president Scott Liu said. All three production lines at Hydis will be producing electrophoretic displays (EPDs) in the third quarter, exceeding the EPD output from the parent company, he said.
Liu indicated that order visibility for EPDs has extended to August, and monthly contribution from EPDs has exceeded 50% of its total revenues recently.
