Retailer Wumart on Hangzhou Strategy

Beijing-based supermarket chain Wumart (8277.HK) expects to open a new shopping mall in Hangzhou in 2011 with investment of RMB 10 million and a total construction area of 30,000 square meters, reports Hangzhou Daily. The retailer has four large-scale marts in Hangzhou and targets a total of twelve in two years for annual sales of RMB 4 billion, said the report. Wumart has more than 800 stores nationwide and recorded 2008 sales of RMB 30 billion, up nearly 8% year-on-year, said the report.
