Netbooks are estimated to reach 37% of the total sales in Taiwan's notebook market in 2009, and over 40% by the end of 2012, according to BenQ Taiwan president Danny Yao.

In 2008, netbook sales accounted for 20-30% of the total Taiwan notebook market, Yao noted.

In the Softex Taipei show from April 9-13, BenQ focused on promoting its 10.1-inch netbook and all-in-one PC, Yao said, noting that the vendor's netbook sales increase 20-30% monthly during the first quarter of 2009, and accounted for about 40% of its total notebook sales.

Yao said that May and June this year will be the key period indicating whether demand for consumer electronics (CE) will continue to rise.
