Four out of the top-five branded PC vendors – Dell, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Lenovo and Acer – have been listed as branded PC products eligible for subsidies under the China government's rural stimulus program, and thus are expected to enjoy increased sales in the China market in 2009.
However, the other top-five vendor, Asustek Computer, did not gain the government's approval. Asustek said this was because it is marketing its PC products under several trade names.
Taiwan PC player, BenQ, also entered the bidding and was not approved.
