ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063 and SEHK: 0763) recently said that it signed a general framework agreement (GFA) with T-Mobile, under the aegis of Deutsche Telekom AG, a world-leading integrated telecommunications company.
Under the GFA, their cooperation covers all markets of mobile phones and data card devices that can be used for T-Mobile.
ZTE expects that its mobile phone business will grow into the world's top three in recent years, noted an executive from the Chinese networking and telecommunications equipment supplier, adding that the company now ranks the sixth place among global mobile phone makers. Nokia, Samsung, and LG are the top three ones in terms of market shares.
ZTE rolled out its 100 millionth mobile phone on September 25, 2008. Mainly supplying customized mobile phones for telecom carriers, the Shenzhen-based company has shipped its products to more than 100 countries and territories and forayed into high-end markets in Europe, North America, and Japan.
